Former Apple iPhone designer Jony Ive may be Ferrari’s next CEO
Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri in an announcement Thursday evening said he was stepping down from the company with “immediate effects for” personal reasons. ” His abrupt retirement left a void in the company. Now, the search for the next CEO of Ferrari is launched.
While Ferrari chairman John Elkann has taken over the management of the company on an interim basis, a new report says the automaker is considering bringing in Apple CFO Luca Maestri and former chief Apple designer Jony Ive to fill that space.
Maestri and Ive are seen as “possible candidates” for the role of Ferrari’s next CEO, according to a Reuters report. According to some reports, former CEO Vittorio Colao was also in the race for the top job. However, sources closer to Colao quashed the reports saying they were “baseless”.
Apart from those reports, he also suggested that former Ferrari racing team chief and former Lamborghini chief Stefano Domenicali could take on the role. However, F1 has dismissed these reports saying they look forward to starting their new role as F1 CEO from January 1, 2021.
Maestri has been Apple’s CFO since 2014. Previously, he was the company’s vice president of finance and corporate controller. Jony Ive, on the other hand, resigned from Apple in 2019 after serving in that role for about 30 years. After Apple, he opened his own company LoveFrom of which Apple is a client.
